I Followed My Sister Into the Woods at Midnight… Then I Felt Something Sitting Beside Me

I followed my younger sister Silly down a deserted road deep in the night.

The highway was far behind us. Here, there was only moonlight, drifting clouds, and the distant howling of dogs.

Suddenly, Silly grabbed my hand and dragged me into a thick bush.

“Shh. Look over there.”

Ahead stood a massive, twisted tree. Its canopy was so dense that not even moonlight could reach the trunk.

“I’m being eaten alive by mosquitoes,” I whispered.

“Wait. I’m waiting for midnight.”

I had no idea what she was planning.

Then Silly pulled out a bundle of incense.

“Light these.”

“To keep mosquitoes away?”

“Exactly.”

Trying to act brave, I set the whole bundle on fire.

Smoke exploded everywhere.

Silly coughed furiously. “Are you trying to summon every ghost in the village?!”

My smile vanished.

She pointed at the tree. “Take the incense over there. Place them in a circle.”

“Why me?”

“Do you want the ghosts to come here instead?”

I swallowed hard and obeyed.

The tree was even more terrifying up close. A hollow opening gaped inside the trunk, black enough to look like a doorway to somewhere beneath the earth.

I planted the incense around the tree and rushed back into the bush.

Then I noticed something strange.

Something was pressing against me from the side.

“Silly... are you pushing me?”

“No. I’m not moving.”

“You’re on my left, right?”

“I’m on your right.”

My blood ran cold.

“Then who’s standing beside me...?”

“Shut up,” Silly whispered. “They’re here.”

I froze.

Something rough and cold pressed against me from both sides.

I didn’t dare turn my head.

Silly pulled out a yellow talisman and began whispering an incantation.

“Get them, Silly!”

The pressure suddenly disappeared.

Every strange presence around us vanished.

Silly stepped out of the bush and walked toward the tree.

I followed with my eyes, convinced my little sister was some kind of exorcist.

At the base of the tree, she placed a mirror against the trunk, lit a candle, and pulled a small doll from her bag.

Then she pressed the doll tightly against her stomach.

I stared at her in silence.

Whatever Silly had come here to do...

May you like

It clearly had nothing to do with mosquitoes.

To be continued...
