Two nights later...
The lights went out.
Every security camera failed simultaneously.
Mrs. Gable heard glass shatter downstairs.
"Clara!"
Smoke spread through the hallway.
Someone had set the mansion on fire.
Detective Brooks arrived within minutes.
Too late.
The flames swallowed the east wing.
Firefighters battled the inferno.
Then...
A scream.
Clara.
She was trapped upstairs.
Without hesitation, Brooks rushed inside.
The staircase collapsed behind him.
Heat surrounded them.
Clara pointed toward Arthur's old study.
"Daddy's computer!"
Brooks looked at her in disbelief.
"We have to go!"
"No!"
"It has everything!"
Brooks kicked open the study door.
Inside sat a fireproof safe.
He grabbed the laptop.
Scooped Clara into his arms.
And jumped through a second-floor window seconds before the roof collapsed.
