Chapter 4: The Heart of the Ocean

Chapter 4: The Heart of the Ocean
Engineers finally reached the main control room.
Their verdict was devastating.
"The remaining tanks are unstable."
"If they collapse together..."
"The entire west wing will fall into the cliffs."
Arthur faced an impossible decision.
Saving the mansion meant sealing emergency floodgates.
But dozens of marine animals still remained trapped inside fractured tanks.
Opening the gates would release them into the Atlantic...
while sacrificing much of Sterling Manor.
For seventy years Arthur had never chosen loss willingly.
Now everyone waited.
He looked at Mia.
He looked at Leo.
Then at the dying aquarium.
"Open the gates."
The engineers stared.
"Sir?"
"Set them free."
Massive hydraulic doors hidden beneath the cliffs slowly opened.
Thousands of gallons of seawater thundered back into the Atlantic.
Fish, rays, turtles, and sharks disappeared into the open ocean.
The mansion groaned as entire sections collapsed into the sea.
Arthur watched millions of dollars vanish forever.
For the first time...
he smiled.
May you like
Not because he had saved his fortune.
Because he had finally stopped trying to own the ocean.
